Alaska abounds with many sights and activities, including
wildlife viewing, skiing, scuba diving, fishing, kayaking,
hiking, shopping, dog sledding, and gold panning just
to name a few.

Bear

Alaska is home to several species of bears, including Brown, Grizzly, Kodiak,
and Polar bears. Bears can move up to 35 miles per hour and will chase fleeing animals.

Caribou Musk Ox
Caribou can often be seen traveling in herds of up to several thousand members. Musk Ox can be seen in the Mat-Su Valley and are valued for their soft undercoat of fur which can be combed off and used to knit scarves, gloves and other items.
Moose Sheep
Moose are one of Alaska's most plentiful animals and can often be seen walking in town. They are the largest member of the deer family. Sheep inhabit many of the rocky cliffs of Alaska's 5 mountain chains.Rams have curled horns and ewes have straight horns. They are very sure footed and climb in many steep rocky areas.
Bears Caribou
Bears gather during the salmon runs in order to feast on the bountiful supply of salmon. Caribou can be an incredible sight with a full "rack" of antlers.
Dogs

Winter offers a world of adventures such as Fur Rendezvous and the Iditarod.

Fish for salmon, halibut, grayling, dolly varden, pike, and rainbow trout just to name a few.

Whale Bones

  Visit the "Top of the World" in Barrow. Barrow is approximately 350 miles north of the Arctic Circle with a population of around 4,500 people.

Walk next to the Trans-Alaska pipeline. It was built in 38 months during which time it employed a peak workforce of 28,072 employees and did more to shape the development of Alaska than all the gold rushes combined.

Ocean

Southwestern Alaska is also known as the Aleutian Island Chain. There are more than 200 islands in this chain. These islands stretch more than 1,400 miles into the ocean. On these islands, you'll find more than 50 volcanoes. That means that you'll find a volcano every fourth island.

Many Alaskan adventures begin at Lake Hood, the world's busiest sea-plane base.
